How to spot a fake website

You can count on the fact that a spoof email will take you to a fake website.

Take a look at the example below. Often, the link in the email will not match up with the URL of the site it takes you to.


How can you tell if you are on a real eBay website?

Legitimate eBay Web Addresses
To determine if the web page you are directed to is the real thing you will need to check the address carefully.The two screen grabs to the right are both fake but are hard to tell apart from the real thing.

Examples of fake eBay addresses:
http://signin.ebay.com@10.19.32.4/ http://signin-ebay.com/

Real eBay Address will start with:
https://signin.ebay.com/
