If you suspect someone else is violating eBay rules and policies, please report this to us so we can take the necessary action.

- Forward suspicious and fake (spoof) emails to spoof@ebay.com
If you suspect another member has broken the law, we recommend contacting local authorities both where you live and where they live. eBay is happy to cooperate with an investigation.

Protect your account
- Use a strong password (a mix of letters, numbers, special characters) and change it regularly.
- Use different passwords for different accounts.
- eBay will never ask you for your password. If you’re suspicious about an email that claims to be from eBay, open a new browser, sign into My eBay and check the Messages tab.
- Always use a secure (encrypted) connection to sign in to eBay or for other financial transactions – not public wi-fi.
- If you do sign in to eBay from a public computer, sign out and clear the browser’s cache and cookies when you have finished.
Protect your computer
- Install security software and ensure it is updated regularly.
- Keep your operating system and application software up to date.
- Don’t respond to emails asking you for a password or financial information.
- Be cautious of emails asking you to click on links or open attachments.
