Verify your PayPal account
The verification process is PayPal's way of further safeguarding the security of everyone who uses the service. It assures you that the person you are transacting with is the actual owner of the account.
Completing our verification process may lift the limits on the amount of money you can send with PayPal.
Two ways of becoming verified
- If you've already signed up for a PayPal account and you registered your bank account as your main source funding your PayPal account, you are already verified.
- If you haven't signed up yet, or you registered a credit card or debit card as your main source of funding, you are not verified.
To verify your PayPal account
Step 1 - Add bank account
- Log in to your PayPal account and check your account status - it will either be Verified or Unverified.
- Click on 'Get verified' from the top left of the page and follow the steps to link your bank
account to your PayPal account.
Step 2 - Confirm bank account
- PayPal will make two small deposits to your registered account. Wait three to five days for this to happen.
- Log in to your PayPal account, click on 'Set up Bank Funding' from the top left of the page
and enter the amounts exactly as they appear on your bank statement.
This process ensures you are the actual owner of the account. Once complete, you'll be able to make instant PayPal payments funded from your bank account.
