View Item page

The following FAQs provide information about recent changes made to the View Item page on eBay.com.au.

Display of information on the View Item page

1. Why have you changed the way information is displayed on the View Item page?

In January 2012, eBay.com tested various ways to display item information at the top of the View Item page in order to maximise the performance of the page for both buyers and sellers.

The following sections were moved to the centre column of the View Item page:

  • History sold

  • Item location

  • Posts to

  • Payments information

Results from the testing conducted by eBay.com showed that these changes benefitted listing performance, resulting in an increase in bought items.

Advertisements on the View Item page

1. Could the ads highlight products that will directly compete with sellers on eBay?

The purpose of the ads is not to compete with sellers’ listings but to display relevant items that provide additional value for buyers and enhance the shopping experience. These changes will actually reduce the total number of advertising impressions on eBay.com.au.

2 . I don’t want to see more ads on eBay. Is there an opt-out function?

Currently, there is not an opt-out feature.

3. The ad placement competes with the pictures I’m trying to show potential buyers. Why are you advertising on my View Item Page?

eBay’s intention is to only provide an ad that helps buyers find what they are looking for. Your picture will continue to be the prominent picture on the page for buyers interested in purchasing your item.
