Promoting your eBay Store

Making buyers aware of your eBay Store is one key to your success. Here are some ways to promote your eBay Store.

Promoting your Store on eBay

Make the most of your auction-style and fixed price listings
The most successful eBay Store sellers bring buyers to their Store through their auction-style and fixed price listings, which appear in regular searches and categories on eBay. In your item descriptions, include links to pages in your Store such as the home page and Store categories. Use the listing header to incorporate your Store's visuals (colours, logo, and theme), as well as links to your other Store pages and categories in all of your item descriptions.
Take advantage of Store marketing tools
eBay offers a number of marketing tools that you can use to promote your Store including email marketing, a customised listing header, promotional flyers, cross-promotions, and RSS feeds. You can access these tools by clicking the Marketing Tools link in My eBay.
Custom listing frame
Set up your own banner, called a listing header, and your own left navigation bar in your Store to promote your Store in listings and to brand your Store and further enhance the buyer experience.
Use your About Me page
Create an About Me page and devote it to your Store: describe your business, include links to your Store, incorporate your Store's visuals, and so forth. Once you create this page, users can click the me icon that appears next to your user ID to learn more about you.
Include your Store name in Discussion Board posts
When you communicate with other eBay members on eBay's discussion boards, include your Store name and URL as part of your signature.

Promoting your Store outside of eBay

Promote your Store in emails and printed materials
Always include your Store name and URL, and your branding elements (theme, colours, logo) in all your correspondence with buyers (such as emails and packing slips), as well as advertisements. Also, take advantage of your Store’s email marketing newsletters, which you can use to send customised email campaigns to your buyers. Create promotional flyers for your eBay Store to include in your postage and to send out to customers.
Optimise your Store for Internet search engines
Match the text in your Store to the keywords users might enter when searching for the types of items that you're selling. This increases your Store's chances of appearing in their search results. Include these keywords in your Store name, Store category names, and the content on your custom pages.

Other tips

  • Register your domain name
Create a Store URL (web address) that's easy for buyers to remember by registering a domain name (for example, www.fancyclocks.com). Buyers who go to your domain name will be automatically forwarded to your Store's home page.

  • Check your Store traffic reports
Examine your Store traffic reports to find out where your visitors are coming from and where they go in your Store. This information can help you to create a marketing strategy.
