What is reimbursement?
In situations where a buyer has reported not receiving an item or the item they received doesn't match the description in the listing, and they were unable to resolve the issue directly with you, we may step in and review the situation. If we decide in favour of the buyer, we will refund the buyer directly and seek reimbursement from you.
When we seek reimbursement, the amount will be deducted from your PayPal account or added as a charge to your monthly selling invoice. The reimbursement includes the cost of the item plus the original postage paid by the buyer.
If the full amount of reimbursement isn't available in your PayPal account, we may deduct the remaining amount when it becomes available.
Note: International sellers who list an item on eBay.com.au are also responsible for reimbursement.
Reimbursement payment methods
After we've issued a refund to a buyer, we'll ask for reimbursement from you as follows:
For purchases made with PayPal, we automatically reverse the funds from your PayPal account to refund the buyer.
If the buyer hasn't paid with PayPal or there are insufficient funds in your PayPal account, the reimbursement will be added to your monthly invoice.
How we let you know when to reimburse us
If we refund a buyer, we'll send you an email to let you know. We also follow up when we process a PayPal reimbursement from you or if there was a problem deducting the amount from your PayPal account.
You can see the status of your requests and cases, including those involving reimbursement, in My eBay.
What happens if you don't reimburse us?
If you don't reimburse us, we may put your account on hold, and you won't be able to buy or sell on eBay. To remove an account hold for unpaid fees, simply pay the amount that is due.
If your account is on hold and you still don't reimburse us, we will suspend your account. You won't be able to buy or sell, or communicate with other members through eBay Messages.
If you've been suspended for not paying eBay fees or reimbursements, find out how to reinstate your account.
If we suspend your account for reimbursement issues, and you still don't pay us, we can send your account to a collections service.
