Why did eBay remove my listing?

If we removed your listing, it's likely because it either violated the law or one of our policies. Or, it may have been removed because the item's rights owner (for example, Coach or Louis Vuitton) asked us to remove it through the VeRO program. This can happen even if your item is genuine.

To find out why your listing was removed, be sure to read the email we sent you. If you don't see an email from us, check your spam folder.

Note: If you're looking for information on how to end one of your listings, find out about ending your listing early.

Why was my listing removed when there are other listings just like it?

You may see items on eBay that are similar to your listing but haven't been removed. There are a few reasons why this could happen:

  • There might be a difference between your listing or item and the other that isn't obvious. The email we sent will tell you more.

If you still have questions, contact us about why your listing was removed.

  • Other sellers may have obtained licences, permissions or consents from the rights owner to use their intellectual property rights in a listing or to sell an item.

  • A participant in the VeRO Program might have requested that your listing be removed, but didn't request that others be removed. These decisions are made by VeRO participants and not by eBay. For more information about why a VeRO participant asked to have your listing removed, first try to contact them directly. The email we sent you about the removal will include their contact information. The rights owner is in the best position to understand their products and intellectual property rights.

If you still have questions, contact us about a listing that was removed under the VeRO Program.

  • Your listing was reported to us, but another was not.

If you see another listing that you think violates our policies or the law, please report it. We will investigate. However, to protect the privacy of all our members, we don't discuss our investigations or the actions we take with anyone except the seller of the reported item and the rights owner reporting the item.

Will my fees be refunded?

If we removed your listing because of a policy violation, we may or may not refund your fees for that listing, depending on the policy you violated and whether you've violated our policies in the past.

If the buyer has committed to buy but has not paid in full, eBay fees will not be automatically credited for the listing.

Insertion fees and advanced listing upgrade fees apply to each listing you create, are charged at the time of listing or relisting, as applicable, and are non-refundable. You can see recent fees and credits on your seller account activity page.

If you still have questions, contact us about fee credits for a listing that was removed.

Can I relist my item?

Even if you think your listing shouldn't have been removed, don't relist it without first finding out why it was removed. Relisting an item that has been removed could result in suspension from eBay. You could also be subject to legal action in some cases. For this reason, the Relist option is not available for listings that were removed by eBay.

If your item was removed at the request of a rights owner, please contact the rights owner before relisting the item to request their permission to relist your item. To contact the rights owner, use the email address that was included in the email we sent you when your item was removed. If the rights owner agrees that your item was removed in error and sends us an email confirming this, you can relist it.

If your listing was removed because it hadn't had any sales in more than a year, we recommend that you only relist it if you take steps to improve the likelihood of it selling. You may need to review your pricing strategies and best practices for listings, or consider whether some inventory needs to be removed from eBay if it won't sell.
