Placing your Store on holiday

Going on holiday? You can use your Store holiday settings to make sure your buyers don't have a negative shopping experience by buying items and unexpectedly waiting a long time to receive them.

When you turn on your holiday settings, we display a message in your listings letting your buyers know you're on holiday. You can also add a customised message to your storefront.

Changing your Store holiday settings

To turn on your Store holiday settings:
  1. Click the Messages tab in My eBay.

  2. Select the Change settings link on the top right side of the page.

  3. In the Store holiday settings section, select Turn ON.

  4. If you'd like to hide your fixed price listings and prevent buyers from making purchases from them while you're away, select Hide and block purchases from my fixed price listings.

  5. If you'd like buyers to see a return date, select Display a return date, and enter a date in the box provided.

  6. In the Message to display on your storefront section, edit the default text displayed in the textbox if you would like to customise it.

  7. Click the Apply button.

Note: You will continue to be charged the normal fees (such as your eBay Store subscription fee and listing-related fees) while holiday settings are on.

If your holiday settings are on, they will remain in effect until you turn them off.

To turn off your holiday settings:
  1. Click the Messages tab in My eBay.

  2. Select the Change settings link on the top right side of the page.

  3. In the Store holiday settings section, select Turn store holiday settings OFF.

  4. Click the Apply button.

Making your fixed price listings unavailable

What it does: This option hides all of your fixed price listings so buyers don't see them in your eBay Store, in search results, in cross-promotions (where other items are promoted in your listing), or on any other eBay pages. Using this option prevents buyers from having a negative shopping experience—in particular, buying items and waiting longer than expected to receive them from you. This feature also lowers your risk of receiving negative Feedback.

Other information about this option:

  • Only your fixed price listings will be hidden and buyers will be blocked from purchasing from them. All auction-style and other listings will continue to appear to buyers as they normally do.

  • Buyers who have already purchased items from these listings will still be able to view them.

Note: If you selected the immediate pay option on your listings, buyers will still be able to purchase your items.

  • All other characteristics of your fixed price listings will proceed as usual except they will be hidden from buyersand buyers will be blocked from purchasing from them. For example, listings may expire if they aren’t scheduled to be automatically renewed or relisted.

  • Your fixed price listings will remain hidden until you return to the holiday settings and turn this option off.

  • While your listing pages will become hidden almost immediately, their titles may continue to appear in searches for several minutes and in categories for up to a few hours.

Displaying a holiday message in your Store

What it does: This option lets you place a message on your Store pages, informing buyers that you're on holiday. This message appears below your custom header, if you have chosen to display one, without affecting any text you have saved in that area.

Note: You can use a default holiday message that we provide or create one of your own using text. HTML and script tags are not allowed.

Sending an out of office reply

If you're going on holiday or not planning to check your email for a while, use the out of office reply to let anyone who tries to contact you know that you're not responding to your messages.  When you set up an out of office reply, any email you receive will be replied to with the message you create.
