Package weight

Specify the weight of your packaged item as accurately as possible so that the postage costs in your listing are correct.

Important: Include the weight of any packing material as well as the item itself.

Weighing your packaged item

To determine package weight, here are some methods you can use:

Postage scale: Most accurate

Postage scales are often available for sale on eBay, or they're free to use at most Australia Post stores.

Bathroom or body weight scale: Somewhat accurate

  • Step on the scale without the packaged item and record your own weight

  • Step on the scale with the packaged item and record this weight. Make sure the packaged item is centred over the scale

  • Subtract the weight you got in Step 1 from the weight in Step 2. The result is the approximate weight of the packaged item.
