About Maximum Postage Costs

In certain categories for flat-rate postage, sellers need to specify in the first postage cost field an amount less than or equal to the maximum postage limit. The limit includes any handling and/or insurance charges. It applies only to the first flat-rate postage service you offer within or to Australia. There are no maximum postage costs for international postage services or additional domestic services. You can offer second and third flat-rate postage services, such as express or registered, and enter your own cost. The maximum postage cost for the category that you are listing in will appear under the area where you enter your postage cost. You won't be able to list your item if the postage cost you enter is more than the limit. The maximum postage costs are determined based on what sellers are charging for postage (according to recent transaction data) and what buyers say they consider reasonable.  When buyers think that postage costs on eBay are too high they may make their purchases somewhere else. The maximum postage cost will help buyers find items with reasonable postage and help you sell more items and increase overall sales.

Large, heavy, or multiple items If you're selling large or heavy items, multiple items, or an item bundle, you can use Calculated postage. Your buyer will be charged actual postage cost based on the package information you provide, the service you select, and the buyer's location.

What about Pre-paid satchels that cost more than the limit? You can still offer buyers 500g and 3kg Pre-paid satchels using Calculated postage. Just choose the package type, overall packaged dimensions and weight, and select the Pre-paid service you want to offer.

International sellers

International sellers listing directly on eBay.com.au are also required to specify a postage cost less than or equal to the maximum postage cost on their first flat-rate Australian postage cost.
