Checkout Tutorial 1
Part 1: Listing with Checkout
Checkout offers the eBay community a consistent process for completing payment and other details at a listing's end. It helps eBay sellers get paid faster and reduces the number of emails between sellers and buyers.
Checkout is available on auction-style listings, Buy It Now listings, and eBay Stores fixed-price listings. Checkout is free for both sellers and buyers.

- Provide payment information when you create a listing, and buyers will be able to pay more easily with Checkout. You can do this on the Sell Your Item form, in Selling Manager and Turbo Lister.
- If you know postage and tax charges when you list your item, specify them in the Postage Costs section. eBay will then calculate the total for your buyer in Checkout. If you don't enter these details, buyers will request the total from you when they go through Checkout when your listing ends.
The costs you enter will apply to Australian buyers only. International buyers will need to request the total in Checkout. Since postage and other costs vary widely for buyers in other countries, you'll be able to send an invoice with the right total for each buyer.
If the Edit Total option is turned on, international buyers can enter the amount to pay you in Checkout. Learn more about the Edit Total option below in Step 4.

- The Payment Instructions field lets you specify payment terms, return policies, discounts, and other details. Buyers will see this information on the listing page, in Checkout, and in the End of Auction email. This field allows up to 500 characters and supports text only.
- You also have the option to let the buyer edit or enter the total amount in Checkout. This option is available on the Checkout Preferences page in My eBay.
You might use this for several reasons: for example, if you have complex postage options and would like the buyer to select from them, or if you offer multiple item discounts which buyers can choose based on their purchase behavior.
If you enable this feature, make sure to specify payment instructions. These will be displayed prominently to buyers anywhere they can enter the total to pay.
If a buyer pays too little in Checkout, you can ask him or her to pay the additional amount through any payment method. If the buyer paid through eBay Payments, you can add the extra amount in an eBay Payments invoice. A link to send this invoice is available on the Checkout Summary page or in your My eBay Payments account.

- Your payment address will be displayed to buyers in Checkout if they choose to pay by check or money order. The payment address you enter will be used for all your items.
- Any payment methods you select will be available to buyers in Checkout. Select eBay Payments to allow buyers to complete payment in Checkout using a credit card or electronic check.
