Used clothing (except underwear, swimwear and certain athletic garments) may be listed on eBay as long as the clothing has been thoroughly cleaned according to the manufacturer's instructions. Listings that contain inappropriate descriptions or images will be ended.
Violations of this policy may result in a range of actions, including:
Listing cancellation
Limits on account privileges
Account suspension
Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings
Loss of PowerSeller status
Joe lists his old jumper for sale on eBay. A buyer won the item and Joe sent the jumper to the winning buyer. Unfortunately, Joe did not have the jumper dry-cleaned before he sent it to the winning buyer. In this case, Joe has violated eBay policy.
Matthew listed a pair of his used underwear on eBay. Since this is not permitted, Matthew has violated eBay policy.
Used underwear including, but not limited to, boxer shorts, panties, briefs, lingerie, swimwear, leotards, athletic supports and cloth nappies are not permitted.
Why does eBay have this policy?
eBay urges its sellers and buyers to comply with all governmental laws and regulations. Furthermore, for hygiene reasons, eBay does not permit the sale of used underwear. Since the sale of used underwear or unwashed clothing may cause harm to eBay or its members, sellers may not list them on eBay.
