eBay strongly supports the efforts of the Consumer Affairs Division of The Australian Department of the Treasury in the protection of consumer safety. The main functions of the Consumer Affairs Division include consumer education and information, electronic commerce policy and consumer protection and product safety and product information standards. The Consumer Affairs Division has developed a web site Product Recalls Australia. According to the Consumer Affairs Division, the site enhances consumer safety by providing current product recall information based on notifications provided to the Minister for Financial Services & Regulation. Items included in the Product Recalls Australia site include consumer products, therapeutic goods and food.
Internationally Recalled Products - Any item that is subject to a product recall in any country, will not be allowed to be made available for sale to the Australian Market. Accordingly these products will be ended.
Violations of this policy may result in a range of actions, including:
Limits on account privileges
Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings
Loss of PowerSeller status
If you're a seller on eBay, you should take a few minutes to check with Product Recalls Australia and ensure that the items you're selling have not been the subject of recall. If you're a buyer, educate yourself about recalled products in areas where you might be bidding.

Why does eBay have this policy?
eBay urges its sellers and buyers comply with all governmental laws and regulations. Since the sale of recalled items are prohibited by law, regulated, or may cause harm to eBay or its members, sellers may not list them on eBay.
