Mailing Lists and Personal Information
eBay does not permit the sale of bulk email, Internet Protocol (IP), Instant Messenger (IM), or mailing lists that contain names, addresses, phone numbers, or other personal identifying information are not permitted. Any tools or software designed predominantly to send unsolicited commercial messages ("spam") will not be permitted.
Violations of this policy may result in a range of actions, including:
Limits on account privileges
Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings
Loss of PowerSeller status
Identifying Information: eBay does not permit the sale of items containing identifying information such as the Tax File number of any living person and does not allow listings that show personal information of third parties such as addresses and telephone numbers.
Social Security Numbers (deceased persons): Items that contain social security numbers of deceased persons, such as genealogy related software or antique social security cards, may be listed. Listings of items that include a social security number, such as old social security cards or old records, must specifically state that the social security numbers do not belong to any living person.
Why does eBay have this policy?
The ban on the sale of mailing lists and personal information is in place to promote a safe marketplace for all eBay members.
