Linking Email Addresses and Web Forms in Listings

Sellers’ listings may include a link that opens an email client or Web form for potential bidders to ask questions about the item in the listing (links are not permitted from the Web form, however). Please note that the link may only be used to enable an email client or Web form. It may not direct a buyer to another Web page that promotes items for sale outside-of-eBay.

Violations of this policy may result in a range of actions, including:

  • Listing cancellation

  • Limits on account privileges

  • Account suspension

  • Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings

  • Loss of PowerSeller status

Some Examples

A link that says “email me” which opens an email client or Web form for potential bidders to ask questions about the item in that listing is permitted.

Why does eBay have this policy?

This policy allows sellers to provide a potential buyer a way to email the seller to learn more about the item while ensuring the buyer is not encouraged to complete the transaction outside of eBay which circumvents eBay fees.
