I didn't receive an item I paid for. Does eBay offer insurance?

If you don’t receive the item you bought or it's significantly not as described in the listing, we recommend that you first contact the seller to try and resolve the problem. If you're unable to resolve the problem with the seller, open an item not received or a significantly not as described dispute.

If you purchased the item from an eBay site other than eBay.com.au it may offer a buyer protection policy, please refer to the policy on that country's site.

If you paid through PayPal you may be protected through PayPal Buyer Protection. If you used another payment method you can also contact the other required Safer Payment Method providers and accepted payment providers to ask if they offer buyer protection programs.

If you don't receive the item you paid for and you can’t resolve the matter directly with the seller, you can report to the seller or to us by using the report this item link on the listing page. The team will investigate and, if warranted, the seller’s account may be restricted or suspended.

In addition, you may wish to report the seller to the police. eBay will fully cooperate with the police investigation. Please ask the investigating officer to email us by using the report information to eBay link on the understanding eBay's role help page.
