| How to use feedback effectively |
Q. |
What part of an eBay member's Feedback Profile should I check first? |
| A. |
- In general, a high Feedback Rating demonstrates that the eBay member is an experienced trader and has a track record.
- Don't discount new eBay members (those with zero or very little feedback) as they make good trading partners, too.

|
Q. |
Members with a lot of negative feedback are still allowed to trade. Why? |
| A. |
A member will be automatically suspended when they have a net feedback rating of -4. For example, if you have received 100 positive feedback comments and only 4 negative feedback comments then you will not be suspended. Alternatively, if you have received only 5 positive comments and 9 negative comments then you will be blocked from bidding and selling.

|
Q. |
What has my trading partner said about others via feedback? |
| A. |
Use the Review feedback left by others. Find out if your potential buyer or seller leaves fair feedback for others.

|
Q. |
How should I handle negative feedback about another eBay member? |
| A. |
If you find negative comments, don't automatically discount the eBay member. Instead, learn more:
- Find out the ratio of negatives vs. positives
- Check to see when these negative events occurred. Were they recent or did they happen a long time ago?
- Did it appear to be retaliatory feedback because the eBay member left the other person a negative feedback?
- If the questionable feedback relates to the quality of the item, review the listing. Was the item described adequately?
If you still have questions or concerns, write directly to the eBay member.

Q. |
Does a high Feedback Rating mean that an eBay member has a great reputation? |
| A. |
Not necessarily. In most cases, a high Feedback Rating is good news, but you should always check a member's Feedback Profile for any negative remarks. It's best not to judge a user on his or her Feedback Rating alone.

|
Q. |
What type of feedback should I leavepositive or negative? |
| A. |
If you were treated well by a buyer or seller, reward him or her with a positive comment. If you were treated poorly, try to resolve the problem first by contacting the other person. Most problems can be corrected by improving communication between buyer and seller. If things are still not resolved, you may leave a negative comment.

|
Q. |
When should I leave feedback? |
| A. |
Any time you want. Your honest feedback shapes the eBay community and specifically impacts the success and behavior of other eBay members. Your voice counts!
If you wish to leave a comment about a specific buy or sell transaction and want it to count as transaction-related comment, you have 60 days after the end of the auction to do this. You can still send in feedback after 60 days, but eBay cannot promise that your comments will count towards a specific transaction.

|
Q. |
Can any bidder leave feedback about a specific auction or just the winning bidder? |
| A. |
Only the seller and successful bidder (one for a regular auction, several for a Dutch Auction) can leave transaction-related feedback about a specific buy or sell transaction.

|
Q. |
Can I leave feedback for transactions completed outside of eBay? |
| A. |
No. The right to leave feedback on eBay is only available to the highest bidder and seller of auctions completed on eBay. In the case of Reserve Price Auctions, the highest bid also must be above the reserve price.

|
Q. |
Can I retract the feedback I left for someone? |
| A. |
No. It's a good idea to think about what you say before you leave feedback.

|
Q. |
Can I leave feedback on a trade if the reserve was not met? |
| A. |
No. In this instance, you can leave buy or sell feedback only if there is a successful bid above the reserve.

|
Q. |
Someone who left me feedback is "not a registered user." What does this mean? |
| A. |
Sometimes eBay changes a registered user's status to not a registered user. When this occurs, there are no changes to your Feedback Rating and all feedback comments left by that user remain unchanged. The only change is that the member is designated as "not a registered user" on your Feedback Profile.

|
Q. |
How do I know I have the correct item number when I leave feedback related to a transaction? |
| A. |
eBay will verify that item numbers match buyers and sellers.

|
Q. |
Can I leave feedback for a non registered / suspended member?
|
| A. |
Individuals who are no longer registered on eBay may not leave or receive feedback, as this is a resource that is only available to registered members. You will not be able to leave feedback for this member unless their account is reinstated before the 90 day time period allotted for leaving feedback expires. If the member's registration is re-activated, then the item will be listed in your pending feedback file, and you may leave your comment at that time. To view your pending feedback file click here.

|
Q. |
I changed my User ID / email address. How can I transfer my feedback?
|
| A. |
Once your change of address/User ID request has been completed, any instances of your old email address will be changed to your new email address including your feedback, any current or past listings, billing account information, and posts on the various bulletin boards.
