Accepting other payment methods

When you create a listing, we'll automatically add credit card, debit card, Afterpay, Zip, Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal as payment options at checkout. Additionally, you can offer other payment methods in some categories.

When you sell on eBay, we'll automatically add the ways your buyers can pay at checkout. Your buyers will be able to pay safely and securely with credit card, debit card, Afterpay, Zip, Apple Pay, Google Pay or PayPal and complete their entire transaction on eBay, with the option to save and store their payment information for future use. When your buyer pays with any of these payment methods, both you and the buyer are covered by eBay Money Back Guarantee (assuming all other eligibility criteria are met).

Depending on the category, and on the country you're selling in, you may also choose to accept cash on pickup. If you wish to do so, you'll need to select cash on pickup as a payment method when creating the listing in the Payment options section of the listing form.

You can't ask buyers to use a payment method that isn't allowed on eBay or to use a payment method that isn't included in your listing. For more information, see our Payment methods policy.

Seller protections and other terms

Our seller protections, including eBay Money Back Guarantee, don't cover offline payment methods or payments that are completed outside of eBay, such as cash, cheques, bank-to-bank transfers or deposits, and money orders. This means eBay can't offer assistance if payment disputes, such as chargebacks, are raised in connection with offline payment methods.

For more information, see our Payments Terms of Use - opens in new window or tab.

Tip
Never accept overpayment from buyers, especially if the buyer asks you to repay the overpayment or send money on. Requests like this are often part of a scam.

In addition to receiving payments via eBay checkout, sellers may be able to accept cash on pickup in certain categories.
