Registering as a Business
Opening a business membership with eBay is essentially the same process as registering as an individual member, with the additional advantage of being able to add your business name to your account. See our Registration Overview for a step-by-step guide to the registration process.
If you already have an individual account, you can change your account to a business account.
When to register as a business
Choose a business account if you:
Sell items that you have bought to resell
Sell items that you have produced yourself to sell
Sell a large amount of goods on a regular basis
Sell new items that you have not acquired for your personal use
Sell items as a trading assistant
Buy items for your business.
If you aren’t sure whether you should register as a business or as an individual, contact your legal advisor to help determine whether you operate as a business and to learn more about your legal obligations as a business seller.
Advantages of a business account
Business sellers can register with a company name. That company name will be displayed in all communication with the buyer, such as invoices and emails
Business sellers can display contact details and terms and conditions in all of their listings
Business sellers could realise tax advantages if they register as a business.
Please read our Goods & Services Tax Policy to see how this affects your eBay sales.
