Feedback and Stars

What is Feedback?

Every eBay member has a feedback profile-it includes a rating number in parentheses, as well as comments from other members you've bought from and sold to. eBay's Feedback system is a way for all potential buyers and sellers to see your trading history on eBay. As a new seller, you may wish to consider buying some items before you sell your first item - this way you can build up your feedback score and instill more confidence in potential buyers.

For example: Skippy (125) means that the eBay member with the User ID Skippy has received positive feedback from at least 125 other eBay members.

How does Feedback work?

Buyers can leave sellers positive, negative or neutral feedback depending on how the transaction went. Sellers can only leave positive feedback for their buyers. For each unique person you buy from / sell to you can receive:

• +1 point for each positive comment
• 0 points for each neutral comment
• -1 point for each negative comment
• A star icon (see below) for 10 or more comments.

When do I check Feedback?

Before you bid on an item, you can check the seller's feedback rating and comments from other buyers by clicking on the number next to the their name, or from the view feedback request form.

What do the different stars mean?

Yellow Star () = 10 to 49 points
Blue Star () = 50 to 99 points
Turquoise Star () = 100 to 499 points
Purple Star () = 500 to 999 points
Red Star () = 1,000 to 4,999 points
Green Star () = 5,000 to 9,999 points
Yellow Shooting Star () = 10,000 to 24,999 points
Turquoise Shooting Star () = 25,000 to 49,999 points
Purple Shooting Star () = 50,000 to 99,999 points
Red Shooting Star () = 100,000 or more points
