Diamond Validation Escrow

Escrow Australia has partnered with Gemex to offer buyers and sellers a Diamond Validation Escrow service. This service combines a traditional escrow transaction and a verification service where the diamond is assessed by a recognised diamond grading laboratory to ensure it matches the seller's description.

What does this mean?
For Buyers

Using Diamond Validation Escrow gives you peace of mind when purchasing high value diamonds through eBay. Diamond Validation Escrow provides an independent intermediary between you and the seller to ensure you receive a diamond as specified in the seller's listing. Not only is your payment held in escrow but you are guaranteed of receiving the same diamond you have paid for.

This service ensures:

  • The diamond supplied matches the certificate noted on the listing.
  • The certificate is accurate and authentic.
  • Your payment is held in trust until you receive the diamond.
  • The diamond has not been subjected to an undisclosed treatment to improve its colour and/or clarity.
  • The diamond is natural, not a stimulant.
For Sellers

When you offer diamonds for sale on eBay using the Diamond Escrow Validation you send a message to prospective buyers that you stand behind the quality of the diamonds you sell. A trusted third party holds the funds while a qualified independent intermediary verifies the goods. Your buyer is assured of what they will receive, your goods are protected and your payment is assured.

Costs

There are two services provided:

  1. A confirmation of the diamond's certificate ($35 + standard escrow fee),
  2. or a DCLA diamond grading certificate if no previous certificate exists ($150 + standard escrow fee).

The DCLA is one of only five laboratories worldwide recognised as an International Diamond Council (IDC) laboratory. The IDC is the governing body established by the (WFDB) World Federation of Diamond Bourses and The International Diamond Manufactures Association (IDMA). These two bodies are the world's highest authorities in Diamonds. The DCLA is also the only laboratory endorsed by the Jewellers Association of Australia (JAA).
