Released by companies like Parker Brothers, Hasbro and Milton Bradley, these classic board games have become a part of households all over the world.

• Monopoly: In Monopoly, players compete to acquire property and build up their wealth. Players take turns to move around the board by rolling the dice. Along the way, they buy real estate as well as pay rent to other players. Monopoly comes in a huge number of themes, from Star Wars Monopoly to Disney Monopoly to Junior Monopoly. • Scrabble: Scrabble is a word board game for two to four players, where players arrange letters on a 15 x 15 square board to form words. Each letter has a different point value and in order to get the highest score, players will have to create words with high point values. There are also bonus point squares on the game board which add to the strategy.

• Stratego: In Stratego, two players simulate a battle between opposing armies. Each player attempt to capture his opponent's flag by moving pieces with different military ranks into the enemy battlefield. However, the player loses his game piece if he stumbles across a bomb or attacks a piece that has a higher rank. The game ends when a player loses all his game pieces or when he captures his enemy's flag.

• Boggle: A word game for two to six players, letter cubes are shaken, like dice, into a 4 x 4 tray to display random letters in Boggle. A timer is then started and players have three minutes to search for words that can be constructed from adjacent cubes.

• The Game of Life: Players in The Game of Life uses automobile shaped pieces to move across the board. A game for two to ten players, everyone take turns to spin a dial and then move their pieces the specified number of spaces. The player with the most money at the end wins.

• Twister: In Twister, players take turns to spin the dial and place their hands and feets on coloured circles that correspond to the dial. You often find yourself and other players in precarious positions on the board, making this a great party game that is sure to guarantee hours of fun.
