Q. What is the eBay Affiliate Program?
A. If you have a Web site, the eBay Affiliate Program is a great way for you to earn cash, introduce your site visitors to the tremendous value and selection of eBay, and be a part of the team that is building Australia's Online Marketplace. You'll receive payment starting from US$6.00, for each Active Registered User you generate for eBay PLUS US$0.05 per Qualified Bid or per Qualified Buy It Now (BIN).
It's simple! Sign up today. We want you to be a successful eBay Affiliate, and we've taken steps to support you along the way. You'll receive monthly commission cheques, and you'll have the tools you need to maximise your effectiveness and satisfy your site visitors.
Q. What is an "active registered user"?
A. An "active registered user" is defined as an individual: (a) who registers for eBay from the registration URL designated by eBay (b) who confirms his or her registration with an eBay-supplied password sent by email, (c) who then goes onto eBay and places a bid or uses BIN to purchase an item within 30 days of their original registration and (d) who does not have an account with eBay at the time of registration. The program is not session based - users do not need to click and register during the same visit - they can come back and finish the registration process within 30 days.
Q. What is a "Qualified Bid"?
A. A "Qualified Bid" is the first bid placed after a user comes to eBay from a link on your site and then bids on an item (within 30 days of the original bid cookie being dropped). The cookie will expire when the user places one bid on eBay or after 30 days have passed and the user has not bid on an item on eBay. The bids placed by the user will count whether the user originally registered from your site or not!
Q. What is a "Qualified Buy It Now"?
A. A "Qualified Buy It Now (BIN)" is defined as the first BIN action placed after a user comes to eBay from a link on your site and uses BIN to purchase an item (within 30 days of the original BIN cookie being dropped). The cookie will expire when the user places one BIN on eBay or after 30 days have passed and the user has not used BIN on an item on eBay. The BIN actions placed by the user will count whether the user originally registered from your site or not!
Q. Is the Affiliate Program free to join?
A. Yes! There is absolutely no cost to become an eBay Affiliate.
Q. Who is Commission Junction?
A. eBay has teamed with Commission Junction, a leader in third-party affiliate marketing programs, to provide affiliates with trusted third party tracking, real-time reporting, and monthly commission cheques, to handle all of our affiliate accounts. Once you sign up for our program, you'll be taken to Commission Junction's site where you'll create your own personal and secure account. Here you can log in at any time to get our banners and links, find out exactly how many registrations you have driven and how many of those registrations converted to active users of eBay. You can even learn in real time the amount of commissions you've earned so far in a given month. By participating in the Affiliates Program, you agree that eBay can disclose certain information to Commission Junction so that they can provide these services for you. |

Try these powerful new tools today to help you earn even more commissions:
- The Editor's Kit - Add relevant eBay listings on your own web site to generate more active registered users, Bids and BINs.
- Dynamic Linking Tool - Create a link to any eBay destination page of your choice to add valuable content to your site.
Q. How many links can I have to eBay?
A. You can have as many links, both text and banner, as you would like.
Q. May I use the eBay logo or content on my site?
A. You will have access to a wide variety of buttons, banners, and text links after signing up for our Affiliate Program. You are welcome to use any of the graphics and text links provided. You may not alter or modify any banners or buttons without obtaining prior written permission from eBay. You must also secure permission before using any third party's copyrighted materials. If you are unsure about your rights to use or modify the materials for your Web site, please contact us.
Q. What if I have more than one Web site?
A. We certainly recommend adding our links to all of your web sites. In fact, we encourage it! Tracking will still take place through Commission Junction. All of your sites will be listed under your one account. |

Q. How much will I be paid?
A. The commissions you earn each month are based on how many active registered users you generate for eBay. The more active registrations, bids and BINs you generate per month, the more commissions you will earn. The table below illustrates the tiered commission structure:
|
Active
Registration Tiers
|
| Total
Active* Registrations |
Commission Base Rate |
| 0 - 50 |
$6.00 USD |
| 51 - 200 |

$8.00 USD |
| 501 - 1,000 |
$9.00 USD |
| 1,001 and up |
$10.00 USD |
|
*A registration is considered active when the user places a bid on eBay within 30 days of their initial registration. Registrations that do not become active within 30 days will expire. No compensation is offered for expired registrations.
Registrations are tracked as leads through the Commission Junction system.

The eBay program compensates for one bid or BIN per click from your web site. Therefore, your site links must be used as navigation to the eBay site prior to every bid or BIN transaction in order for you to be compensated.
A bid and BIN are tracked as a sale through the Commission Junction system.

Q. How are monthly payments calculated?
A. At the beginning of every month your total transactions for the month are set to zero. After each month is completed, we will run a report to determine the total amount of active registrations, bids and BIN purchases generated from your site during that month. For example, if your site has generated between 201-500 active registrations, you will be paid US$8.00 for every active registration generated during that month. In addition, if your site generated between 501-2,000 qualified bids or BINs, you will be paid US$0.06 per bid & BIN.
You may find a lag period in processing monthly payments with eBay's commission model, due to a rolling 30-day cookie. For example, a user clicks on an eBay link from your website and registers on 25 September but does not make a bid until the following month on 17 October. The commission for that active registration and sale activity will appear in October rather than September.
Note: Your standard commission rate will remain the same in your account settings. This incentive payment (above your standard commission) will be added to your account as a BONUS.
In order to continue earning higher commissions for active registrations, bidding and BIN activity, you will need to continue driving activity at the tier levels outlined above. The more activity you drive to eBay, the more you will earn!
Q. How do I check the status of my account?
A. Once your application has been approved, you will receive an email notification welcoming you to our Affiliate Program. This will include your Commission Junction password, so be sure to make a note of it. To see your account status, log in to Commission Junction at www.cj.com. Once logged in, you can see your account balance at the top centre of your screen and get instant site statistics under the "Generate Reports" area on the right.
Q. When do I get paid?
A. Earnings are automatically sent out every month via cheque to all Affiliates who have accumulated at least US$25 in their account. There are no invoices to send and no data to track-- all payments are taken care of by eBay and Commission Junction. Once you join our program, you'll be able to log into your account at www.cj.com and go to the area titled "Generate Report." Here you can see how much you've earned and even download a file if desired.
